Universal Studios

Firtsly, there are two rules when driving in the states.
1. Honk at EVERYONE
2. If there is no gap for you, MAKE ONE

Having said that, i didn't drive today :) pretty much door to door from our hotel to Universal Studios.

What an awesome day! The tour had to be the highlight, seeing where they make all the movies and some of the wicked sets.

If i may be negative for a moment :p if i wanted to be surrounded by Australians, i would have gone to Australia!!! There are sooooo freakin many of them here haha

The traffic is insane, 45 minutes to get to Universal, 2 hours to get back, CRAZY!!!

Day off tomorrow then down to San Diego for the day Sunday before flying back to NZ at 11pm :(

Disneyland today

Another massive day in the good old US of A.

Went to Disneyland (for 9 hours) and got in almost every ride! They put in soooo much effort to their rides it makes Splash Planet look like the big pimple on the landscape of Hastings, and thats saying a lot!

Kylie let me buy a new toy :) YAY :) not telling what it is either, when we get home ill post a photo :p

Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, Star Tours (our favourite), Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Mr Toads wild ride just to name a few!!! We are both totally stuffed!!!

Hollywood Tour tomorrow, hopefully, movie stars homes, Hollywood walk of fame, Muholland Drive and the LA sign, Sunset Blvd, Melrose Ave, Rodeo Drive, Downtown LA, Farmers Market, Santa Monica, Venice beaches and Marina Del Rey :)

So much to do in soooo little time, I half expect to come over here and relax... WRONG :)

Our cadalliac is awesome! cant get the remote start to work for some reason :( oh well :p

I have no idea where we are going to put all the things we have brought!!!! Uh Ohhhhhh

I refuse to stand and face the American flag every two minutes when the raise, lower, replace e.t.c the flag haha soooo funny.

Made the mistake of ordering a large soft drink at Disneyland.... lesson learnt haha

Chinese for tea tonight YUMMY! couldn't resist the good old sweet n sour pork and cashew chicken... I think the pig the pork came from must have been as big as a freakin house!!!

Knotts Berry Farm and a mint Cadillac!!!

What a massive day!!!

Knotts Berry Farm is awesome, loved all the rides, 301 feet in the air being spun around, what an awesome view of LA!!!

No lines at ANY of the rides, we even got to do our favorite rides a couple of times one after the other.

ANNNNND we (I) am driving a "super luxury" Cadillac, blacked out, chrome mags, electric everything, SO FAST!!!

We have got soooo much sun, 27 degrees today in Anaheim, pppffffttttt freezing!!! haha at least the humidity is a bit higher in LA.

Went to see the Angels play the Yankees in LA stadium, was an awesome day, thanks to Mark and Nancy for the tickets!!

Plenty to fit in, Fly back on Sunday :(

The art of shopping while on fan-bake

Its official, Las Vegas has the best shopping on the planet! Not on the strip, but a free bus (unless you use the one that cost $2, like we did) up the road to the outlet shops.

One word, WOW!

We spent lots of money, we could have spent sooooooo much more! there are so many shops its crazy, Levi's for $30, what the!!

After 6 hours of shopping in 90 degrees and 20% humidity, we went and saw Jabbawockez, but not before enjoying some Italian food right here in the Hotel. 10/10 for food quality and service, New Zealand could learn a lot!

Jabbawockez kicked off at 9:30 in a cinema style hall, again, right here in the hotel. They were awesome, youtube them if you dont know who they are.

I won AGAIN on the slots, but only by accident this time, when i bet all my betting allowance on virtual roulette, and won hahahaha classic, never ceases to amaze kylie.

More shopping to do today, this time not for ourselves :) for all our friendly friends, plus we're going to ride the rollercoaster at New York New York.

Side note for the boys - Las Vegas is the hub of hotness! I'm going to start handing out Air Zealand cards!!! Kiwi girls (excluding my lovely wife) have NOTHING on some of the talent walking the streets here, WOW!

But, i digress, hope today isn't as hot! although it looks cloudy so the humidity might be up slighty...

Maybe one more win on the pokies too :)

Its 8:46 on Saturday as i write this, the computer tells me it 3:47am tomorrow in NZ.... Maybe thats why it sucks getting up haha, good thing the shops dont open till 10am :p

10 hour flight! ouch!!

Unknown to me kylie wrote a blog while i was asleep, this is it;

Its offical Ben can sleep on planes but I certainly can't, 1.5 sleeping tablets later I look like shit and sitting here like a Zombie by the way Sheree your right its freezing in here. Over half way into flight 03:25 your time 08:25 Vegas time! Looks like I'm not far away from being served scrambled eggs and bacon or is that just my imagination? I can certainly smell something brewing!
These Fijians are amazing, huge smiles even at this time of day, just beautiful beautiful people. Not sure about the whole Fiji experience though - sure we experienced all of 5 minutes outside - but christ the humidity!!! while it was only 23 degrees out we were both sweating it out like Ben after a session with Jerry. By the way everyone LOVES our shirts, but they like me more due to having the new collar on mine haha, cheers Mum and Dad for loaning us one that was a great idea, the Fijians are HUGE All Black fans. As for the Police Uniforms, we didn't get a photo but will try on the way back, can certainly see a few of you strutting your stuff in them.... white what I can only describe as a surong with pointed edges  ( much like triangle flags) all seems very casual but I guess the military deal with alot of things.
To elaborate a bit more on the shopping at Nadi Airport, we certainly found a few odd habbits. They seem to have an obsession with their genitals and sex, every carving we found was along this theme, some photos to come, although we didn't get to photograph the "pairs" in various sex positions, there were literally hundreds of these things.

Then i wrote this when i was awake :p

Up, up and away!

As soon as we got on the plane it was apparant to me that this way going to be an interesting flight, Infact, I think both Kylie and I had a pretty good idea even beforehand.

Sitting in Fiji airport, nice and quiet, doing the odd bit of shopping. Then the silence is broken by the cackling of an American... I am led to believe that these things are largely land based mammal's but you couldnt be critised for thinking that their evolutionary path is more closely linked to that of the whale.

Big, Loud and seldom good for anything other than the odd photo opportunity :)

It is amazing to see how many of these types stroll up to the boarding gate and ask if they are boarding yet... because everyone likes sitting around airports doing nothing at 10pm...

Then when the nice Fijian man ask everyone from rows 69-41, walking onto the plane and seeing people holding up everyone else so they can sit in row 20. Kylie had to bite her tongue!

Pop a few sleeping pills, couple more, for jet lag, one for my mutliated gum and we're ready to sleep :)

We lucked out and picked window seats on the right hand side of the plane, 3 average sized seats tucked neatly together to create cattle class. However, to both our delight, there is noone in the seat next to us. So we have been taking turns sleeping on eachothers laps, stretched out and not too unfomfortable to tell the truth!

As I write this the computer tells me its 5:05am, Los Angeles time is 10:04... yesterday... so forgive any confusion haha.

Fijian adventure

Bula Vanaka!

Well we have made it as far as Fiji.... annnnd its pissing down with rain hahaha.
Beautiful landscape, green rolling hills, blue lagoons, resorts... everything it looks like in the brochure, just sopping wet :p

Flight from Auckland was not too bad, couple of vodka and oranges later. Chicken curry for lunch on rice.
Flight staff so friendly! smile slapped from one cheek to the other, A+ for service.
Coming into Fiji was a bit bumpy! Kyz blood pressure lifted dramatically :s

Its 29 degress and a sticky 100% humidity on the island. We were "transfer" flyers from Auckland so our baggage in getting sent through (hopefully) to L.A. So 6 hours in Fiji Duty Free :)

Kyz managed to pick up a replica All Black jersey in Auckland duty-free!!! cheap as chips! dunno what all the fuss is about...

As i write this sitting on a plastic seat on a furnware-esk table, watching Kylie trying to communicate with the lovely Fijian lady at the food stall, smack bang in the middle of the building. It becomes clear to me that the easiest way to converse with the locals is by simply talking louder and pointing.
Failing that, smash the place up!!

mmmmm Fiji Gold, an interesting blend of coconut and dog testicles, not the tui that i am used to, 1 whole tui in every bottle and all!! At least Fiji Gold is less filling, it says so right here on the bottle!

So, what to do in this little slice of paradice... drink beer, eat hot dogs (which actually contain real dog, its the little differences!) and maybe try and sneak out onto the tarmack and direct a few planes???

By the way, when the airport sign says "WIFI, at Fiji International Aiport, WIFI is free", what you dont expect is to have to pay $5.00 per 30 minutes for 30MB.... free???

Maybe we can kill some time in the "muzik" shop, I am thinking no considering I am not sure wether that is a typo, or they think thats how the white devil spells music.
Or on the other hand (and conviently right nextdoor) is Beach Culture, with only the "B" light functioning correctly, occassionally the L in culture trys to grab hold of what clearly is a limited power supply to the shop! I'm fairly certain the cash machine screen iscardboard with vivid writing on it, and the teeny tiny fijian lady who is serving (who says child labour isn't benefical to all Fijians, keep up the good work FRANK!) is making "bee boop" noises when she pushes the imaginary buttons...

Do I trust the chicken burger, the answer to that is a resounding no!

As you sit there reading this thinking to yourself, how negative! Quite the contrary, I would love to bring Kylie and Carys back here and stay at a 5 star resort, over the deep blue, with all the luxuries of home at my fingertips :) Low budget in this place... not an option folks.

Even the cute little video, blasting from the screen (one every 4 rows i might add) gives me the impression that if you cant stab a shark in the face or take a coconut to the head from 10+ metres, then F**K OFF!

Thus ends this little chapter of our journey, we landed at 4:15 and it is now 4:53, any progress is good progress i spose :)

See you in cyber space peeps!

Love you Carys xoxoxoxoxoxoxo Mummy and Beanie

PS an hour later and you should see the treasures we've found in the airport! holy moly the Fijians are sex mad, it's hilarious. There are sculptures for sale EVERYWHERE, Megs you need one of these!! Kyz xx
